Both the safaris mentioned on this website is 100% Forest department organized. Privet safaris are banned in Gir National Park.
Which type of jeep safaris are available in Gir National Park? 
There are two types of jeep safaris.
1. Gir Jungle Trail (approx. 3 hrs) in open jeep,
2. GIZ Devaliya Jeep Safari (approx. 1.5 hrs) in caged jeep.

What is the difference between Gir Jungle Trail and GIZ Devaliya Jeep Safari? 
Gir Jungle Trail
This is open Jeep safari in Gir National Park deep(core zone) forest.
Approximate time duration: 2.5 to 3 Hrs

GIZ Devaliya Jeep Safari
Safari in Personal caged Jeep in Devaliya Safari Park (buffer zone also known as Gir Interpretation Zone)
Approximate time duration: 1.5 hrs including transit time from Sinh Sadan
Package starts from INR 4200/- per jeep
Is ID proof for all members are compulsory? 
It is mandatory to provide ID proof detail of all members while booking. ID proofs submitted while Safari Booking will be verified with the original ID proofs at safari boarding time.
Is soft copy accepted for the ID proof at the time of Safari boarding? 
Yes, soft copy of valid source is accepted at the time of Safari boarding.
How many people can accommodate in one Jeep? 
One Jeep can accommodate maximum 6 adults and 1 child. Member having age till 12 years is considered as a child and more than 12 years considered as an adult for safari booking. If number of adults are less then more children can be added up to 7.
We are less than 6 members. So what will be the rate for the safari for us? 
Since the rates are per Jeep and not per person, rates will be same for 1 person and for 6 persons boarding the safari.
What is included in the Jeep Safari Package? 
a. Permit issued by Forest department to enter in to the jungle
b. Jeep, Driver & Guide accredited by Forest Department
c. Payment processing charges, service charges & GST
d. Safari coordinator who will assist you while Boarding
What is Not Included in the Jeep Safari Package? 
a. Camera fees, if any. (There is no charge for Mobile Phones)
b. Pick-up / Drop from Resort / Hotel. It can be arranged at extra charge.
What is safari boarding / reporting time and place? 
You have to reach ‘Sinh Sadan’ before 30 minutes of your scheduled safari boarding time.
Is the safari is operational through out the year?  
Gir Jungle Safari remains closed from 16th June to 15th Oct every year. However, you can enjoy Devaliya Jeep Safari throughout the year (except every Wednesday).

How the Route is allocated for the safari? 
Route of Gir Jungle Trail will be allocated randomly by Forest Officer at reporting time at Reception centre, Sinh Sadan.
What is suitable time slot for more visibility of lions? 
As Lion is king of Jungle, no one can predict about his visibility in his natural habitat. Sighting of Lion is purely based on your luck. Moreover, jungle itself is breath taking and worth visiting.
What are the chances of sighting lion during safari? 
In Gir Jungle Trial, possibility of lion sighting is purely on your luck. While in GIZ Devaliya Jepp Safari, possibility of lion sighting is 99%.
On which route we can see lion? 
There are 13 routes for Gir Jungle safari (3 hrs). Any of the routes is allocated to each jeep randomly. Possibility of lion sighting is equal in each route and it is purely on your luck.

How to Cancel any services booked like Safari or Hotel? 
Reply to the email you have received for your booking confirmation expressing interest for booking cancellation.
How I will get refunded amount after cancellation? 
Refunded amount will be processed in the same account you have used for the safari booking within 5 working days.
What is GIZ Devaliya park? 
To reduce the disturbance from tourism in the main sanctuary area, and to facilitate tourists to understand the importance of Gir and its wildlife, an interpretation zone has been created at Devalia. This comprises 412 ha of chain-link fenced area which is ‘Gir in a nutshell’, covering all habitat types and all major representatives of wildlife of Gir. The basic aim of creating this facility is to provide an opportunity to view lions and other animals in their natural habitat within a short period and reduce tourist pressure on the sanctuary. The area has a good quantity of prey base in the form of Spotted Deers, Blue Bulls, Wild Boars, Blackbucks, Sambars and Chinkaras. Spotting a Lion in its savanna habitat is a treat to the eyes for a wildlife. A good variety of grassland, as well as forest avifauna, is also spotted in the area. 20-30 Indian Vultures are regular visitors here. It is also called as Buffer zone.
Which time of the year is the best to visit Gir National Park? 
Winter and Summer both have their own beauty in jungle. The best time to visit this park is during the months of Mid October - Mid June, and the best recommended time is December - April.

How Asiatic lions are different from African lions? 
The lion, the most majestic big cat, is a unique gift of nature. It is an extremely intelligent animal with remarkable social habits and hunting techniques. Lions live and hunt in groups called "pride", which generally consists of adult females, their cubs plus a few males. The male Asiatic lion has a relatively short, sparse and darker mane compared to the fuller mane of the African lion. As a result, the male Asiatic lion's ears tend to remain visible at all times. The most distinguishing characteristic of the Asiatic lion is the longitudinal fold of skin that runs along its belly.
